NST Corporation

NST CORPORATION recognizes the need of the contractors in the mini-directional boring industry to have information in hand to be able to specify the proper size and type of drill stem to their rig requirements and hole conditions.

NST has experienced many instances of contractors having been sold pipe by manufactures that 'go with the rig' but pipe that is not suitable for the job conditions the contractors experience in the field.

No one size of pipe can suit all the variations of drilling conditions. If the need is for a tight radius, obviously a more flexible pipe is required. If drilling conditions are more rugged, a stronger pipe is needed.

Smaller OD pipe is more flexible than larger OD pipe but larger OD pipe is more durable than the smaller OD pipe.

There are three basic factors that determine the character of any joint of pipe.

These factors are: 1) the grade of steel from which the pipe is manufactured, 2) the technique used to manufacture and 3) the strength of the connecting thread machined on the pipe.

At NST, we purchase green tube from major steel producers that have the proper metallurgical chemistry, which enables us to heat treat and quench each joint to grade P-110.

We have this P-110 material cut to the length desired and forged. Therefore, each joint has no seams or welds making it the strongest joint possible.

The pipe is then threaded. NST high torque connections have an excellent torque rating, which has been field proven over many years of service.

NST CORPORATION manufactures drill stem in many different sizes for many different markets. In the mini-directional market, we have demand for our smaller sizes in ten, fifteen and twenty foot lengths.

These Tube sizes include 1 1/8", 1.66", 2 3/8", 2 7/8" and 3 1/2".
